About Haven Church Toronto

Haven Church Toronto was planted in September 2019 with a vision to build a deeply rooted, gospel-centered church in the heart of Toronto. Our mission is to change the world by making disciples, planting churches, and ending injustice.

Our culture blends engaging teaching, spiritual formation, authentic community, justice, hospitality, and fun — creating a church that feels both intellectually engaging and deeply human. We want to help people encounter Jesus, be transformed by the gospel, and become part of a community that genuinely loves the city and its people.

The Opportunity

Kids Ministry is one of the most strategic investments a church can make — and at Haven, we take it seriously. We’re looking for a Kids Church Leader who believes that what happens in the lives of children on a Sunday morning matters eternally. Someone who can build something, love people well, and make the gospel come alive for the youngest members of our community.

This is a part-time paid staff role (25%, approx. 10 hours/week) overseeing two age groups: Nursery (ages 0–2) and Pre-School/Kindergarten (ages 3–6), with the potential for the role to grow alongside the ministry.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee Kids Church for Nursery (ages 0–2) and Pre-K/Kindergarten (ages 3–6) every Sunday
  • Implement and bring to life the Orange Curriculum in a way that’s engaging, age-appropriate, and gospel-centered
  • Recruit, develop, and care for a team of Kids Church volunteers
  • Host quarterly team gatherings focused on vision, culture, tactics, and volunteer appreciation
  • Plan and execute special events like Campference and other seasonal and church-wide events
  • Build genuine relationships with families and be a trusted presence for parents
  • Manage Planning Center scheduling and keep the team informed and prepared week to week
  • Develop an annual budget in collaboration with volunteers and the Lead Pastor
  • Help shape strategies that grow Kids Ministry and create meaningful on-ramps for families in the community

Who You Are

You’re not just looking for a job — you’re looking for a place to invest. You’re someone who:

  • Loves Jesus and is actively growing in your faith
  • Has a genuine calling to kids ministry and lights up around young children and families
  • Is warm, joyful, and energetic — you bring the fun and the heart in equal measure
  • Is organized, reliable, and able to lead independently without needing to be micromanaged
  • Is humble, teachable, and hungry — proactive and always looking for ways to grow and contribute
  • Thinks like a builder — excited about shaping something from the ground up
  • Aligns with Haven’s vision, culture, and approach to discipleship

What We’re Looking For

  • Some experience in children’s ministry, education, or a related caregiving or leadership role
  • Experience building or leading volunteer teams is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with the Orange Curriculum is a plus
  • Ability to think creatively and help shape a growing kids church in an urban context
  • Completion of Plan to Protect® screening (including Vulnerable Sector Check) required before start
  • First Aid / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Compensation

Haven Church is committed to compensating its staff competitively, in a way that reflects our genuine investment in the people who serve with us. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
